Welcome to Travel Planned Loosely!

Updated: Jul 12, 2023

Did anyone else start habits during 2020 that have yet to die?

I am a teacher and a mom of two that was living a very busy life prior to the COVID 19 pandemic. We went from always-on-the-go to nowhere-to-go so fast it made our heads spin. We went a little stir crazy. We had traveled fairly regularly before the pandemic, but having multiple trips canceled and being trapped in the house for months at the time birthed a desire to get out and see EVERYTHING that I had never had before.

We set a goal in 2021 to take our two daughters to see all 50 states (we had already been to about 8, does Disney count?) before the oldest one graduated high school. I knew that if I was going to accomplish that in 10 years we would have to hit multiple states per year and be very strategic about how we traveled. I began researching things that I wanted to do in each state. What we were things that we couldn't miss? What states had our "must see" items close together geographically?

As of 2023, we have visited 33 states and 16 national parks (all on school breaks)! When we started posting about our vacations on social media, inevitably someone would ask for our itinerary. We have so much fun as a family on these trips, and nothing would make me happier than to share what we have learned so that other families can have a great time together.

I love talking about our travels and adventures and am here to share our itineraries and experiences to help others make wonderful memories with their family and friends! Follow along for our growing list of travel itineraries and guides and let me know in the comments if there is something or somewhere specifically you are looking for!
